Lead a Group. Make a difference!

Groups are what turn the crowd of a Sunday service into a community where life-change happens. It’s a beautiful strategy modeled after Jesus’ ministry here on earth. But it takes work! It takes listening to God’s voice, answering His call, and opening our schedules. Jesus said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” So we’re praying for someone exactly like YOU. Are you ready to make a difference? FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do I have to do to be qualified to lead a group?

You are already qualified! 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 says “There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God; it is He who made us capable of serving…” and that is what we believe at Central Church. If you’re wondering what our requirements for leaders are, please see the list below.

  • Born again Christian
  • Water baptized
  • Background Check cleared
  • Next Steps Course completed (can be taken once you sign up to lead)
  • Group Leader Training completed (can be taken once you sign up to lead)
Do I have to host the group in my home?

Groups can happen anywhere! They do not just happen in homes. Feel free to pick a centrally located coffee shop, restaurant, or park. Pick a place that you want to host at!

Do all groups need to be bible studies?

We like to say “our groups should be as diverse as we are!” This means you can have a running group, a bible study, a book study, a crafting group, a workout group, a moms group, etc. All that we require is that there is discussion and prayer that happens at every meeting. That’s what makes groups different from a social club – we bring Jesus into it.

What do I do with my kids / other people’s kids?

This is up to and your group! Do you want them to be apart? Do you want adults only? A lot of times, family groups share babysitting costs for a babysitter to come and watch all the kids in another room. Other times, someone has a teenager willing to help out. This is one of those things, as the leader, you can decide and then discuss with your group.

What if someone asks me a question about the bible or right/wrong that I don’t know how to answer?

Don’t panic! All of us get stumped sometimes. We encourage all of our group leaders to lead with scripture instead of opinions. We believe God is the only one who actually knows it all so we try to stick to the scriptures instead of our ideas. If you don’t know a scripture to encourage them with, simply tell them you’d love to research the bible to find the answer together. We can always learn something new!
